What the job role is
In this job role, you will be accountable for the delivery of a variety of integrated FM operational services (e.g. cleaning, catering) across multiple sites or a portfolio of property assets and FM services, nationally or regionally.
You will be accountable for setting the FM strategy and budgets, overseeing the financial and operational performance of the FM function, Aswell as this you will have the opportunity to be in charge of budgets and overseeing the financial and operational performance of the FM function. As well as managing client relationships, building the FM client base, business growth and developing the organisational capability of the FM workforce.

- Scope and evaluate the extent and nature of FM compliance requirements

- Develop, understand and implement FM strategy and policy
- Apply and change programme management techniques when necessary
- Develop, understand and evaluate FM business continuity plans
- You will learn how to lead and develop the FM workforce to manage assets and deliver services
- Develop, understand and implement operational business plans
- Develop, understand and implement budgets
- Understand your corporate social responsibility
- Create proposals for a range of people

What qualifications will you need?
For this job title, you will be expected to have achieved ‘A’ levels or equivalent. As well as an existing L4 qualification or relevant experience.
What qualifications will you gain?
At the end of this 42-48 month apprenticeship. You will have achieved the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) accredited L6 Extended diploma in FM and a bachelor’s degree in facilities management. Any apprentices who needed to complete their level 2 English and maths will also achieve this level before taking the end-point assessment.

Applying for apprenticeships can be hard and a confusing process. It may often take time due to there being such a pool of competition. However, the outcome will be worth it and allow you to have great opportunities in the future. Here are some tips on getting that apprenticeship.
Take your time with applications and tailor them to the role
This may sound obvious, but people applying for apprenticeships often do not tailor their application or take their time. Applying for an apprenticeship, most companies have applications with questions such as: why do you want to work for us? What makes you different? What relevant experience do you have? Make sure to take your time on these questions and dig deeper into thinking about how you can be different and stand out to others. Employers get hundreds of applications and if they all include the same wording you will not stand out. Take your time and do not rush.
Have experience
Having experience is what employers often look for, can you do the job at hand without it being explained? Are you able to be trusted with something due to having experience? Not having experience can have a negative signal about your work ethic, especially in such a high apprenticeship like this one. Volunteer, get a part-time job, or an internship. Anything that will set you above others.
Networking
This is a great way to develop relationships and communities and always looks great to recruiters. Networking is easy, for example, LinkedIn. Download LinkedIn and link with companies you want to work with, link with employees that do a job you want to do and keep ahead of industry news. Post as often as possible and keep it interesting, having a good profile can set you above others because it shows you care about relationships, and news, and it shows you commit. When constantly working it can become difficult to find time to think about what should I post. What content should I use? Therefore it shows commitment and consistency which will hopefully correlate with your work.
