My Apprenticeship: Expectations vs Reality

Have you ever considered a career in digital marketing but don’t know where to start? If so, this blog will help you determine if an apprenticeship would be the right for you.

During my A-Levels, I knew I wanted to do an apprenticeship, rather than going to University. This is because it would give me the opportunity to gain a qualification whilst also gaining valuable work experience. Whilst looking for an apprenticeship, the Level three digital marketing experience really stood out tome. A reason for this is that it isn’t the same tasks each day, the role involves event planning, marketing, etc. meaning each day is a breath of fresh air and doesn’t become repetitive.

What have I gained from this experince?

I have loved my time on the apprenticeship and all of the experiences it has offered me. In terms of what I have gained from this experience, I have developed my love for marketing and learnt what it takes to succeed in the working world.

Since joining my apprenticeship my love for marketing has grown even more. I have been able to work on areas that I was weaker in, like blog writing, and try things that I have never tried before like planning events! I have even enjoyed the more analytical side of things like social listening. As my apprenticeship was partnered with an  IT provider, I have found that it has allowed me to get an insight in to an industry that I had no prior understanding of.

What have I learnt

My job role is quite diverse. It involves event planning, website editing, social media marketing, etc. These are all aspects which I have become very familiar with each day. Also, in my time here I have been getting to grips with how systems operate, for example the University recruitment management platform and emails. As I progress through my apprenticeship, I am excited to see how I can develop my skills.
